SORA – Some of the best-known works by Rossini, Puccini and Verdi will be performed in the heart of Sora on Friday, August 28, when Piazza Mayer Ross hosts an open-air opera gala starting at 9 p.m.
Soprano Angela Nicoli and tenor Alessio Borraggine will perform alongside the Orchestra Nova Amadeus, conducted by Alessandro Cedrone. Ilaria Paolisso will present the evening.
From Rossini to Puccini
The programme will open with music from The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini, before moving into the operatic world of Giacomo Puccini.
Works from Manon Lescaut and Tosca will be featured during the concert, alongside celebrated arias including Vissi d’arte, E lucevan le stelle and Nessun dorma.
The performances by Angela Nicoli and Alessio Borraggine will be accompanied by the Orchestra Nova Amadeus throughout the evening.
Verdi also features in the programme
Music by Giuseppe Verdi will form another part of the gala, with selections from La forza del destino and the famous drinking song from La Traviata. Non ti scordar di me is also included in the announced programme.
The concert will therefore move across different works from the Italian operatic repertoire, bringing both orchestral music and vocal performances to the outdoor setting of Piazza Mayer Ross.
Opera moves into the heart of Sora
The gala will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, August 28. For the occasion, Piazza Mayer Ross will become an open-air stage for an evening entirely devoted to opera.
With Alessandro Cedrone conducting the Orchestra Nova Amadeus, the event will offer audiences in Sora a programme featuring some of the most recognisable compositions from the Italian operatic tradition.
