SORA – This Saturday, 12 September, the centre of Sora will turn into a huge open-air sports venue for the ninth edition of the Notte Bianca dello Sport. Activities will start at 5 pm and continue until late at night, with sport, entertainment and events spread across the town centre.
The numbers give an idea of the scale of the event: around 3,000 athletes, more than 300 associations, federations and sports organisations, over 100 different sports and 22 dedicated areas. Organisers expect more than 30,000 visitors during the evening.
Sport all around the town centre
Piazza Mayer Ross will host the Red Bull Urban Area, with BMX freestyle, street soccer, football freestyle, calisthenics and urban dance. Corso Volsci will be dedicated to martial arts, combat sports, fitness and live demonstrations.
Along Lungoliri Mazzini, visitors will find canoeing, kayaking, fencing, spinning and indoor rowing. Parco Santa Chiara will focus on inclusive and Paralympic sports, while Lungoliri Simoncelli will host motorsports, motorcycles, driving and flight simulators and a mini-motorbike track.
Famous athletes coming to Sora
Several well-known sports personalities will take part in the event. Among the guests are Olympic fencing champion Elisa Di Francisca, gymnast Manila Esposito, Italian gymnast Marco Lodadio, former football star Beppe Signori and former Roma player Antonio Tempestilli.
Also expected are Daniele Terenzi, Matteo Sainaghi and Pietro Lietti. They will join meetings and public events during a night designed to bring professional sport closer to families, young people and fans.
More than competitions and live shows
The Notte Bianca dello Sport will also include meetings about sport, facilities and fair play. The Town Hall will host the conference «Sport Missione Comune», while Piazza Palestro will be the setting for «Tavolo della Legalità – Giocare Pulito», with representatives from institutions, law enforcement agencies and UNICEF Italia.
There will also be a special area dedicated to the Armed Forces and Police, while 16 local teams will compete in the traditional tug-of-war tournament. Organised by the 03039 Ducato di Sora Association, with the support of the Municipality of Sora and CONI Lazio, the event will once again turn Sora into a large sports area open to everyone.
